Getting Netware storage statistics

Netware Remote Manager (NRM) will collect and report on lots of Netware disk statistics. Be aware that NRM is a powerful tool that can do a lot of damage, use with caution. This description relates to the Netware 6.5 version
To access NRM, type the following in a browser window

http:/server_tcp_ip_address:8008

server_tcp_ip_address could be your server name if you have DNS running. 8008 is the default port address; you may have another port configured.

Getting File Size and Aging information

Select “Volumes” From the Manager Server section of the left hand menu, then select the volume you want to analyse. This will list out the directories and files in the root. To get full volume information, click on ‘Inventory’ from the top line then wait. It can take several minutes to collect the information, depending on how big the volume is. Once the info is collected, you will be presented with a large number of charts and tables that show big space users, datasets by size, datasets by creation date, datasets by accessed date and more. The two tables below show a disk space usage summary for a volume, and a graph of files by last modified times.

It is possible to drill down from many of these results and get further information, for example to find out just what the biggest files are, click on the group, and wait again while Netware scans its directories, then it will come back with a list of files.

Getting Historical Information

Once you are into NRM select
